Reign of the Dinosaurs

Do you like dinosaurs? Of course you do. Because they are that awesome!

I've been lucky enough to be a VFX artist onboard this fantastic upcoming Discovery mini-series for about a year now. I'm having a great time modeling and painting dinosaurs all day long:) And working with great people too!

So if you love dinosaurs, or even just a great adventure you will love "Reign". Watch for it this year, dinosaurs are so awesome!

Happy Febuary 2011 to you. So pleased to hear that you're doing what you love. It's been a while since you've posted, and I'm sure I am not the only one who is glad to see that you're doing well? So, any plans for a book in the future? I'd love to see more of your impressionist dinosaur art. In coffee table book form. Have fun at work. Do keep all of us posted if you are able to on when "RotD" is airing etc.

HI and thank you!
I'm super lucky to have been able to work on something that invloves things I really care about and I'm having so much fun! Everyone is working so hard on it I just can't wait to see the final result.

I'm so happy you like my dino art:) I would love to make an art book of dinosaurs. I like that idea and hopefully I can create some more work to fill one. Something just with pictures of beautiful animals.

Thanks again for your comments:) I'm sure as "Reign" gets further along and more can be said you'll see it here:) Hopefully everyone will like it.

I've been so busy I've neglected my blog, so I'm going to try and post more on here:)

Thank you again!

Thank you so much for choosing Hadrosaurs as your subjects. I am pleased to see this diverse yet underrepresented family of animals showcased at last. I believe the world has seen enough images of a Theropod, mid stride, & jaws agape. Too many images of Hadrosaurs as a corpse, beneath the foot of some bellowing Theropod. They had lives too, and served a purpose other than a meal. Will your work in RotD showcase any Hadros? Keep up the fantastic work.

Deeply envious you're working on this!
Can I ask what role do you have on the project Angie?
Matt

Thanks again so much for your compliments:) Hadrosaurs are my favorite group of animals and I love painting them. I also like to see the Hadrosaurs doing other things besides running for their lives.

I'm sure they were beautiful animals in their own right. I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do:)

I can't say what animals are in "Reign" as its top secret right now. So you get to be surprised;)

Thanks again so much for writing me:)

Hi Matt!!! Thanks for your comment. On "Reign" I'm a modeler, texture painter and I get to do some color concept stuff too. Basically I get to build dinosaurs and paint them all day:)

It is a wonderful job and I've become very partial to the animals, LOL!!! Plus I get to work with some of the people I have admired for a very long time. I'm really lucky!

Thank you again so much:)

You lucky person!
It'd be my dream job!(my background is in 3D & 2D animation)
It sounds like you're really enjoying it.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the final show.
Matt

Hi Matt:)
Yeah, I feel the same. This is my dream job. I love dinosaurs and had always wanted to work on something like this. WWD inspired me so many years ago I can't believe I actually get to do something similar!!!
Thank you and I can't wait to see what you think of the final show when it airs.

Hi guys! I'm glad you found my site and I can tell you like dinos...my favorite kind of people!!! :)

Thank you for your nice comments, the dinos I had (or have...I did some house cleaning this weekend) were not for "Reign". I'm glad you think they were beautiful though.

Nothing I have up is for Reign, I'm under an NDA (non-disclosure) and must keep everything a surprise for you guys...or at least until something is released. I think the only images up were at Real Screen, but I think they archived the images by now.

I wish I could tell you what you wanna know;) I know its hard to wait for this stuff, I remember counting down the days for WWD wondering what it was going to be like.

So I can't let you know about the species on the show, other than what you've seen online.

But you get to be excited and on pins and needles until the release... :-D

Thanks for commenting, you are always welcome back here. I like to meet other dino people:)

There is a page saying that says ROTD will be realesed on July 2011 so can we expect teasers/trailers/images soon ??

Angie Rodrigues said...

Hi there!

I'm pretty sure July is a guess and a general estimate. I have not heard of an airdate yet. It's possible it could be summer, but it may be a bit later too.

I think its up to Discovery when to start advertising for it so I don't know when they will start the marketing phase for it.

Hopefully it will be sometime soon because I'm excited to see it all start coming together:)
