Alrighty, got to paint up one of my figures (Brachylophosaurus) that was printed from my CGI model. And here she is:) I was happy with how it turned out and plan on putting her in a diorama. I'm pretty sure she is screaming at a Tyrannosaur...telling him where to stick it :-D

Gorgeous, Angie!
That IS gorgeous.... SO LIFELIKE.... Angie, have you considered going into the dino-sculpture business? Even Greg Wenzel and Brian Cooley would have reason to be jealous of stuff that's this good :)
Thanks so much guys! Glad you think it came out so well:-)
Hiya Nima! Thanks:) Yeah, I'm looking into it now and trying to learn how to do it and make molds and things. I think I'll get some super sculpey soon and have a go at it. I'd really like to sculpt some little dinosaur gems:) You've encouraged me to try it!
Thanks again!
I agree, Angie! This is amazing - you could totally give Safari and Battat and all the other dino toy-makers a run for there money!
Thanks Peter! I'm actually in the middle of trying to sculpt a hadrosaur out of super sculpey. I love it so far, but I have no idea what I am doing!
I'm having to ask for some help from some dino sculptors, hopefully they can hold my hand through it all until I know what it is I'm doing:)
I'm hoping to mold and cast it to make resin copies, I'll post it here as I go along:)
Thanks again!
Wow that's really beautiful! I have been keeping track of your blog and artwork lately, awesome work.
Brought into the third dimension, your work continues to amaze me. I strongly urge you to submit your work to get a paid position; there are countless places that would value someone of your talent.
Haven't seen a dino sculpt this good in...forever! I'm partial to Papo and Battat myself, but this blows both of them out of the water.
Fantastic paint job, i love the pattern on the back half of the model. it has a very watery effect, is that blended or is there a technique you use to accomplish that?
Marco.
Thanks everyone! I am so glad people seem to like these figures and art. I have more coming that I'll post up here soon!
Hi Marco! The technique I used has a lot of glazes that I apply, almost like watercolor. So I start with a lighter brown, then a darker brown and kind of let them bleed into the figure. Little spots and stripes add to realism instead of just a big solid stripe, too.
Thanks for your comments and I'll be posting more stuff soon:)
Take care, Angie
Fantastic stuff! You use Lightwave, right? How do you export the STL file (assuming you use that format)?
Hi David! Thank you! Yep, I use Lightwave 3D for the CGI models.
I have a program called AccuTrans that Shapeways recommended to convert the model. It accepts LWO so I open my models, check if they are "watertight" (if not I highlight the problem and go back into LW to sew the model up in the problem area) and then save them as .dae and upload it to Shapeways.
Pretty cool to hold your virtual model in your hands:) thanks again for your comment!
